The Sable Residence
A hillside home that steps down its sloping site, trading a conventional footprint for framed views and quiet, level-by-level privacy.
Designing With the Slope, Not Against It
Rather than cutting and filling the site to create a flat pad, The Sable Residence follows the natural grade, stepping down in three shallow terraces. Each level settles into the hillside, reducing excavation and keeping the home rooted in its landscape.
Framed Views at Every Level
Large openings were placed to capture specific views outward, rather than simply maximizing glass. Each room frames a different slice of the landscape, so the house reveals itself gradually as you move through it rather than all at once.
Privacy Without Isolation
Public spaces sit on the upper level closest to the street, while bedrooms step down toward the quieter, more private end of the site. The result is a home that feels connected to its surroundings but still offers real separation between shared and personal space.
